MOGADISHU\u00a0 — <\/strong>Somalia and China have held high-level discussions focused on strengthening disaster preparedness and climate resilience, as the Horn of Africa continues to grapple with escalating environmental challenges.<\/p>\n

The meeting in Mogadishu brought together Mohamud Moalim Abdulle, Chairman of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), and Wang Yu, China\u2019s Ambassador to Somalia. The two sides explored avenues for enhanced collaboration to address recurrent climate shocks, including floods, droughts, and fragile infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Key topics included increasing Chinese technical and financial support to reinforce Somalia\u2019s emergency response systems and to rehabilitate public services across climate-vulnerable regions.<\/p>\n

Discussions also emphasized the importance of community-based resilience, sustainable recovery, and the restoration of livelihoods in areas repeatedly hit by climate-driven humanitarian crises.<\/p>\n

Chairman Abdulle welcomed China\u2019s engagement, describing it as \u201ca cornerstone for sustainable disaster governance\u201d in a country still emerging from the shadows of prolonged conflict and instability.<\/p>\n

\u201cChina\u2019s continued partnership plays a vital role in our national efforts to build a stronger, more climate-resilient Somalia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Wang Yu reaffirmed China\u2019s commitment to supporting Somalia\u2019s recovery and pledged deeper cooperation in the fields of infrastructure, development, and long-term climate adaptation.<\/p>\n

The meeting reflects SoDMA\u2019s ongoing efforts to strengthen international partnerships aimed at mitigating the environmental and humanitarian risks that threaten the country\u2019s fragile progress.<\/p>\n
