MOGADISHU —<\/strong> Somalia has officially launched a five-year strategic plan aimed at accelerating the country’s progress in economic growth, good governance and environmental resilience.<\/p>\n

The National Transformation Plan (NTP 2025-2029) seeks to advance Somalia’s social development, the Ministry of Planning, Investment and Economic Development said in a statement issued during the launch in Mogadishu on Monday.<\/p>\n

According to the ministry, the strategy aligns with Somalia’s Centennial Vision 2060 and aims to establish a peaceful, democratic and economically thriving nation.<\/p>\n

Minister of Planning, Investment and Economic Development Mohamud Abdirahman Sheikh Farah said that the NTP “reflects the aspirations of the Somali people and lays the foundation for a resilient, prosperous, and self-reliant Somalia.”<\/p>\n

The NTP 2025-2029 will replace the National Development Plan 2020-2024, recognizing the need for a strategic shift from traditional development approaches to large-scale national transformation, the ministry said.<\/p>\n

The plan is structured around four key pillars: strengthening inclusive governance, the rule of law, public sector efficiency, and security reforms; fostering economic diversification, infrastructure development, trade facilitation, and private sector growth; enhancing education, healthcare, and social protection while empowering women, youth, and persons with disabilities; and addressing climate change challenges, disaster risk reduction, and sustainable environmental management.<\/p>\n

The ministry said the NTP was developed through extensive consultations with federal member states, private sector stakeholders, civil society organizations, academia, and international partners.<\/p>\n
