BAKU, Azerbaijan \u2014<\/strong> At the COP29 climate summit here, Mohamud Moalim Abdulle, Chairperson of Somalia\u2019s Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), delivered a critical speech addressing the looming threat of the La Ni\u00f1a weather phenomenon in East Africa.<\/p>\n

Abdulle, part of the Somali delegation, emphasized the urgent need for international cooperation to mitigate the effects of La Ni\u00f1a, which could exacerbate drought conditions in the already vulnerable region.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe stand at a critical juncture where the potential for drought could devastate agriculture, water resources, and communities,\u201d Abdulle stated, calling for enhanced early warning systems and increased climate resilience strategies.<\/p>\n

His remarks come at a time when discussions at the summit are focusing on climate finance and adaptation measures for countries most affected by climate change.<\/p>\n
