AFGOI —<\/strong> The Shabelle River has overflowed its banks, flooding to areas in Lower Shabelle Region. The floodwaters have already begun to impact Sabiib area under Afgoi District as residents face difficult situation prompting early warnings from relevant agencies .<\/p>\n

Residents living in the area said that the flood affected and destroyed their crops. \u201cOur farms have been destroyed by the flood water. We are afraid that the situation will worsen,\u201d said one of the residents.<\/p>\n

In addition, the residents of Afgoi town are expressing concern over the fear of excess flooding in the Shabelle River, with roads cut off in some areas.<\/p>\n

The residents living in the area have called on the Federal Government of Somalia and the South West Administration to immediately respond and see the current situation.<\/p>\n

Some of the government forces participated in the relief efforts for the people affected by the flooding ensuring the safety of the residents.<\/p>\n

Shabelle river has a history of flooding and causing evacuation to the residents and the situation has exacerbated the challenges faced by the local population.<\/p>\n

In response to the flooding in Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) has severally issued warnings, highlighting the severe risk posed by the caused by flooding of the rivers.<\/p>\n

The agency has called on people living along the riverbanks to evacuate immediately to minimize potential damage and loss of life.<\/p>\n
