{"id":14905,"date":"2024-09-09T22:55:57","date_gmt":"2024-09-09T22:55:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sooha.org\/en\/?p=14905"},"modified":"2024-09-10T10:06:18","modified_gmt":"2024-09-10T10:06:18","slug":"somalia-trains-200-disaster-management-staff-with-help-of-turkiye","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sooha.org\/en\/2024\/09\/09\/somalia-trains-200-disaster-management-staff-with-help-of-turkiye\/","title":{"rendered":"Somalia trains 200 disaster management staff with help of T\u00fcrkiye"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>MOGADISHU &#8212;\u00a0 <\/strong>Somalia has trained around 200 staff members of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) with the help of T\u00fcrkiye who received essential first aid skills for health-related emergency response scenarios.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The month-long training program was held at Mogadishu Somali T\u00fcrkiye Training and Research Hospital in the capital, which is also known as Erdogan Hospital.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Senior Somali government officials including Interior Minister Ali Yusuf and Somali Disaster Management Agency Chairman Mohamud Moalim Abdulle attended the closing ceremony of the training on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Turkish Ambassador to Somalia Alper Aktas and the head of the Turkish Red Crescent in Somalia, Serif Simsek, also attended.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The objective of the training is to prepare the agency\u2019s staff to handle emergency response situations during disasters and major emergencies and to provide first medical assistance to the victims, according to a statement issued by SoDMA.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Yusuf thanked Turkish organizations for \u201ctheir unwavering support and urged the staff to make use of the skills they received to help people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Aktas also reaffirmed Ankara\u2019s commitment to continuing the provision of training courses to enhance the capacity of Somali government employees.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">T\u00fcrkiye, a close ally of Somalia, has invested in its education, infrastructure and health and provided it extensive humanitarian aid.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">T\u00fcrkiye has its largest embassy in Africa in Mogadishu and built its largest overseas military facility there to train the Somali National Army.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Source: Anadolu Agency\u00a0 \u00a0 Origin: <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aa.com.tr\/en\/africa\/somalia-trains-200-disaster-management-staff-with-help-of-turkiye\/3325058\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener sponsored ugc noreferrer\">View original<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MOGADISHU &#8212;\u00a0 Somalia has trained around 200 staff members of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) with the help of T\u00fcrkiye who received essential first aid skills for health-related emergency response scenarios.
