CAPE TOWN —<\/strong> Two Somali shopkeepers in Cape town, South Africa, were killed by gunmen on Saturday, according to Somali traders.<\/p>\n

Abdikarim Abdullahi Mohamud and Abdullahi Dheere were shot dead by bandits who attacked their business in the Gugulethu township in the Western Cape.<\/p>\n

The killers escaped from the murder scene, and no arrests have been made in connection with the double homicide.<\/p>\n

South African police officers said that investigations are underway.<\/p>\n

The victims’ bodies were collected by local Somali traders who are preparing them for burial.<\/p>\n

Somali shopkeepers have\u00a0frequently targeted\u00a0deadly xenophobic attacks in South Africa by rival native business owners. The relative quick success gained by working in a spaza shop \u2013 a convenience store that sells basic groceries \u2013\u00a0 after arriving in the country as economic migrants breeds resentment in a country where youth employment is over 35%.<\/p>\n

In early June, two other Somali shopkeepers where\u00a0shot dead\u00a0in Western Cape after being targeted in their respective shops.<\/p>\n

No arrests have been made in those murders.<\/p>\n
