MOGADISHU — <\/strong>The Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education has today released results for the 2022 national Secondary School exams.<\/p>\n

35,000 National Secondary school students across Somalia sat for their exams In June, conducted in exam centres in Jubaland, Galmudug, Hirshabelle, and southwest states, as well as the Benadir region.<\/p>\n

In a televised address from Mogadishu on Tuesday, August 16, the Ministry of Education announced that Khalid Abdullahi Mohamed, a student at Iftin Warta Nabada Secondary School in Mogadishu emerged the overall best candidate in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thank my teachers and family for their continued support and encouragement in my studies,\u2019 said Khalid Abdullahi Mohamed, the best candidate in the exam.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy joy can not be measured, I am very happy for achieving this milestone,\u201d<\/p>\n

The federal Ministry of Education and their State Counterparts have been commended for delivering credible national exams which have shown tremendous progress.<\/p>\n

In Somalia, since the collapse of the central government in 1991 and the education sector was disrupted, schools used different curriculums and grading systems until 2014 when the government unified all academic curriculums and exams conducted in the country.<\/p>\n

The number of students examined in the unified national examinations has grown steadily in the last seven years, from 3,500 students in 2015 to 35,000 this year.<\/p>\n

The examinations which have since then been held consecutively every year, in Benadir, Jubaland, Southwest, Galmudug, and Hirshabelle regions, are presided over by the federal ministry of education.<\/p>\n

The new Somali Minister for Education Farah Abdulkadir is expected to spearhead efforts to institutionalize education reforms so that the gains made in the last few years are maintained.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Hard work of delivering for our children\u2019s future begins now,\u201d said Farah Abdulkadir while assuming office on Sunday.<\/p>\n
